The mausoleum complex of the Western Xia Kingdom is situated at the east foot of Helanshan Mountain, west outskirts of Yinchuan City, Ningxia. As the graveyard of emperors, aristocrats, and high officials of the Western Xia Kingdom, the mausoleum complex is dubbed as "the Oriental Pyramid".

The mausoleum complex, measuring 10km from south to north, and 4km from east to west, is distributed with nine emperors' mausoleums and over 140 tombs of aristocrats and high officials of the Western Xia Kingdom. Each emperor's mausoleum is an independent and complete architectural complex; they are facing the south, taking on a vertical rectangular shape. The main tomb of each emperor was built according to the traditional Han style, but each with its own characteristics; their layout differs from that of Song mausoleum, and from the square mausoleum tower of Tang as well.

The mausoleum complex of the Western Xia Kingdom is an organic integration of Han ethnic culture, Buddhist culture as well as Dangxiang ethnic culture.
