Unearthed in Tai'an of Shandong Province, this is a wine utensil made of red pottery mixed with sand. It belongs to the Dawenkou culture. The pottery article, with a lifelike pig head in the front, a tube-like mouth at the back, and a lifting beam in between, is a creative and practical wine utensil. The pig was a main domestic animal in the Dawenkou Culture Period and articles made in the shape of a pig were a symbol of someone's wealth and social position at that time. |
