Emperor Wuzong of Yuan (1281-1311) is surnamed as Borjigin and his given name is Qayshan. In 1307, he was enthroned and ruled for the next four years. Eversince he was enthroned, he was plagued by financial difficulties by free-spending polices since he had been bestowing rewards to the ministers and aristocratic clans in a luxurious way. In the end, he even granted titles casually in order to meet the greedy desires of the aristocrats. Emperor Wuzong worshipped Tibetan Buddhism. As the legendary goes, one day, Gong Ke and other monks came across with one of Wuzong's princesses. Blaming her to stand in their way, the monks asked her to get off her horse but she refused. Therefore, the monks pulled her down and kicked her. Afterwards, the princess complained to Wuzong in tears. However, he totally ignored her feelings. After Wuzong's death, his younger brother Ayurbarwada succeeded. His posthumous title is Renzong. Emperor Renzong is a benevolent emperor with rich experience of Chinese Culture. |
