This is a story from the book Zhuangzi. A man with the surname of Wei was deeply in love with a girl. Once he and his sweetheart agreed to meet under a bridge, but his sweetheart stood him up. Unfortunately, a flood came. To keep his promise, the man refused to leave and ended up dying while holding a pier. The rendezvous was said to be named "Blue Bridge". The man, together with the pier he hung on, became a mark of keeping promise.
